About Charlotte
Charlotte Desorgher is a leading figure in the United Kingdom’s vibrant belly dance scene. Widely regarded as a force to be reckoned with, she is a powerhouse performer and choreographer, well-loved instructor and large-scale event producer. She has gained international recognition not only for her timeless and elegant lyrical interpretations onstage, but also as being a driving force behind the current popularity of this beautiful art form.
Performing since childhood, she trained extensively in theatre arts as well as classical ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance, graduating with honours in dance from The London University of Education.
As an adult, living and working in the Middle East spawned a lifelong fascination with the sensuality and unique movements of Oriental Dance. And after mastering the technique in its countries of origin, she continued to study and refine her practice with Egyptian music legend Hossam Ramzy and international superstar Aziza of America.

Over the past ten years Charlotte has trained and influenced literally thousands of dancers, including many top professionals. With a unique ability to break down technique and a warm, encouraging teaching style, she has changed the lives of many women, encouraging body acceptance, building self-esteem and guiding them to explore creative expression through belly dance.
In addition to a schedule packed with workshops, classes and performances, Charlotte oversees many international dance events. 2009 saw Charlotte co-producing The International Belly Dance Congress, one of Europe’s largest festivals, featuring legendary Egyptian performers Fifi Abdou and Randa Kamel. And in September 2011 Charlotte, together with Egyptian star Khaled Mahmoud, will be producing Shimmy In The City, London’s exciting new international belly dance festival.
Charlotte’s goals are to raise the level of professionalism of bellydancing in the UK and, along the way, to help change the image of bellydancing in the eyes of the general public.
